Wynns Estate Shiraz

‘The wines made in 1953, 1954 and 1955 are still absolutely remarkable, equal to the very greatest wines produced in Australia in those years.
Current prices for Wynns Estate Shiraz are almost inexplicably low. Big companies do big deals and often need bargaining chips. I fear this wine has become one of these. But why not take advantage of this?’

Style: Medium Bodied
Alcohol Volume: 13.5%
Tasting Notes:
Nose
Intense fruits are fast out of the box revealing wild blackberry and a savoury/bramble backdrop. Distinctive white floral notes lift the aromas up and speak of the classically aromatic Coonawarra style
Flavours and Palate
Elegant and silky, with attractive dark fruits. Delicate oak is used to match and support the fine palate structure, leaving room for ripe tannins to complete the picture without dominating its distinctive cool climate character. The finish is drawn out with hints of cedar, nutmeg and fragrant bay leaf. This is a beautifully balanced wine ready to enjoy now or cellar in the medium term.
Food Pairing: Grilled Meat and Veg
